David Cohen (art critic)
David Cohen is an American art critic, art historian, curator and publisher. He is the editor of artcritical.com, which he founded in 2001.〔Raphael Rubinstein, "Front Page," Art in America, January 2005〕 Cohen is also the organizer and moderator of The Review Panel, an ongoing public discussion forum which he launched in 2004, and has been hosted by the National Academy Museum and School〔(National Academy Museum and School page for The Review Panel )〕 and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.〔(Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts page for The Review Panel )〕 He teaches at Pratt Institute, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Fashion Institute of Technology and other institutions.

In the decade before he moved to New York City Cohen pursued a career as a fine arts journalist in his native London where he wrote for such publications as Art Monthly,〔(Author listing at Art Monthly )〕 Burlington Magazine〔(Issue archive at Burlington Magazine ),〕 and Modern Painters,〔"(Letter from New York )," Blunt Edge, The Peter Fuller Memorial Foundation, 2001〕 as well as newspapers, including The Independent and the New Statesman.〔Joan Waltemath, "(In Conversation: David Cohen with Joan Waltemath )," The Brooklyn Rail, October 2010. From 2003-08 Cohen served as art critic and contributing editor at The New York Sun.〔(Author index at the New York Sun )〕 From 2001 to 2010 Cohen worked at the New York Studio School as its Gallery Director,〔(Faculty listing at the New York Studio School )〕 and organized over forty exhibitions of artists including Thomas Nozkowski, Rackstraw Downes, John Newman, Pat Steir, Dorothea Rockburne, Merlin James and William Tucker.〔Mario Naves, "(Art Diary )," New York Observer, February 3, 2003. Krauss, Svetlana Alpers, Linda Nochlin, Arthur Danto, Mark Stevens, Roberta Smith, Jerry Saltz and Robert Storr.〔(Media release ), New York Studio School, 2010〕 Many of the interviewees in this series later appeared on The Review Panel.
